Studio Conversations is a small program held inside working studios. Each session brings a group of guests into direct contact with the artistic process through observation, discussion, and material exploration.

The program shares how meaning forms through relationships between materials, and viewers.

This session takes place in the studio of Juan Nazar in Berlin. Nazar works with found objects, fragments, and image assemblage.

The evening is structured through four stages of conversation.

Program

Arrival and Introduction
Guests are welcomed into the studio and introduced to the artist and the structure of the evening.

The Abstract Conversation
Participants select a small found object prepared by the artist and take part in a short group exchange focused on attention, selection, and interpretation.

Open Studio
Guests move through the studio, observing works in progress, materials, and fragments. The artist speaks about their current work and process.

The Visual Conversation
Participants work with symbolic shapes and fragments inspired by the artists’ practices. Using simple materials, guests create compositions through selection and arrangement.

The Textual Conversation
The group contributes words, short phrases, or marks to a shared sheet of paper, forming a collective reflection on the evening.
